Inuit Carving – Ulu by Donald Inuktalik 816000482

Donald Inuktalik of the Ulukhaktok community crafted this ulu. The base and handle are carved of muskox horn and the blade is very functional. These are the traditional knives of women in the arctic and it is said that  when someone passes away, their ulu retains their spirit and energy. The blade measures 5.5″ across (14 cm) and on the base it stands 4″/15 cm high.
